Chi-Town Ink
As some of you may know, I wrote a profile piece on Windy City Ink, a new tattoo shop on Division that recently opened its doors. The shop opened in mid-August, and when I talked to them, the owner told me they would “for sure” be doing a Miami Ink reality show/Chicago style. He couldn’t comment any further.
That was exciting. I was glad to put it in my article.
But the other day, I got a new neighbor named Nick. He works at Tattoo Factory, an established tattoo parlor in Uptown. I mentioned the new shop to him, and he said that Windy City Ink was full of bull. He said Tattoo Factory had already filmed a pilot and was going through a bidding war between MTV and TLC.
Are they both telling the truth? I don’t know. But at this point, I’m rooting for Windy City Ink to get the show, even though they are behind schedule. The crew that worked there seemed laid back and genuine. While I didn’t meet anyone from Tattoo Factory other than Nick, I didn’t get too good an impression from him. He seemed more like a kid in the midst of blind excitement.
So who’s right? I don’t know. But at this point, I’m pretty sure at least one shop will be doing a show in Chicago. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see which.
